My favorite memory of Steve is when at ACTG group meetings he would organize poker tournaments which he called "advanced probability seminars". We would play into the late night and Steve would play right along with us young pups.

I am deeply saddened to learn about the death of Steve who was my mentor at HSPH a few years back. I will always remember him as a thoughtful dedicated teacher and his memory will continue to inspire me for the years to come. Rest in peace.
